The Media Collective

Design has no absolute. We can never and will never tell you that we will give you the idea, we can only ever offer an idea. Our job is to interpret the information you give us and translate it into the visual language that represents your company, fulfilling the objectives set out in the initial brief. We have our own ways of looking at things, and a range of styles with which to implement our ideas.

What you think you want is not always what you need. During our dialogue with you we may push you to explain why you need to do what you have just suggested. We're not being rude, we just know that very often our customers have spent so long looking at their problem from one angle; one of the things we do is try to help them see it from other angles in case a better solution presents itself.

You never know what you truly want until you see it. We know that our ideas are useless to you unless you can see them. Ideas are very hard to describe with words, especially for designers, and so we always try to get you some initial proofs done as soon as possible so that you can begin to see where we want to take your concept.

You always know what you don't want when you see it. And that's okay. We need copious amounts of information to visually interpret what you need and your reaction to our initial ideas, whether good or bad is usually the richest source of feedback, so don't hold back and tell us exactly what you think.

Change happens. We know it. You know it. This is why revising and tweaking the content of a project is all part of the job. We are always ready for a barrage of amendments and edits, miss-spellings and other minor tweaks. Better to get it right the first time so never be afraid to point things out to us and, ultimately, it's your job to make sure it's how you want it.

Ideas can be stubborn. Sometimes things flow and a great concept is born out of a good old-fashioned brainstorming session; often though, ideas are elusive beasts that creep up on us when we least expect it. We can often find ourselves waking up at 3am mulling over a new concept for a logo or the front cover design of a brochure, but that's how it happens; ideas don't restrict themselves to the 9 'til 5. Of course we aim to meet your deadlines regardless and hope you never give another thought to when and where the idea came, we just thought it's worth you knowing...
